We will help the buyer to make connectors, label the wires and test the goto system (take a clip if requested) before packing them.

The buyer can wire and play them directly in few minutes out of the box if you have had a 20~24V DC power supply or a 12V battery with a DC-DC converter (contact us if you have any question).

We do our best to make wiring and power connected by the way of fool proof (such as fuse, diode, XH2.54 and PH2.0 connectors).  However, the basic electric and mechanical knowledge are required.  

We advise you to send us the Alt bearing cover if you need us to drill and tap 4mm threaded holes on it (addtional $15 labor cost).  It is better looking and saves you much time.  Certainly, you can DIY if you have a drill press (not hand drill) or send it later after the purchase.

From 10~16" Dobsonian, We advise a nema17 on Az and a Nema23 on Alt.  The shaft length is critical in our goto system.  Basically, the standard motors works without any issue in GSO manufactured Dobsonian.   However, longer shaft helps much if you DIY the base with a thicker materials.

* We have soldered two wires (green/white) out of the jumper 6 to switch goto at 64 micro steps and tracking at 256 micro steps.

The driver is true 256 micro stepper used on standard 1.8°/step motor.  It could be 512 when working with 0.9°/step motors.

we recommend 1/128 driver at least. Most 1/256 drivers work quieter, less vibration and better accuracy.  

Mostly, the 1/256 drivers are designed for Nema23 or bigger motor.  Remind you to order a driver which allows the smaller output for nema17(1.5A).  A smaller nema17 is capable of Azimuth motion in 8”-16” Dobsonian.

You must use our handmade wires to run ez goto system.  The diode inside the wire aviods the damage caused by msitaken +/- electrodes.

Wiring power is quite simple but risky.  However, it would be very safe if you insert few diode inside wires or use fool proof connectors.

We are used to make red wire for 20DCV, yellow for 7.5DCV and black or white as ground (0 DCV).  However, we sometimes mistake the wires to damage the electronics.  It becomes very safe after inserting a diode inside each power wire.  Beside, we apply the fool proofed connectors (XH2.54 or PH2.0) to make sure them connected easier.

The signals between drivers is less than 24DCV mostly.  In order to simplify the power system, we advise little lower than 24V, such as 20DCV in our demo.

The goto board requires the power DCV5-15.  There is a tiny DC converter on the power board to provide DCV 7.5 for goto board and the dual speeds relay.
